🌈 Collective Worship – Having the Courage to Stand Up for What Is Right Last week, following our Open the Book story of Noah, we asked the children a big question: “Is doing the right thing still the right thing if everyone else thinks you are wrong?” We had some fantastic responses across school, with children thinking deeply about courage, trust, endurance and the importance of not simply following the crowd. 💭 Jack reflected that being in the majority doesn’t necessarily mean you are right, because people can have different opinions. 💭 Maddox thought about peer pressure and the importance of not changing what you believe simply because everyone else disagrees. 💭 Holly suggested that courage can come from our past experiences, our families and other people encouraging us. 💭 Abel made a brilliant link to our learning during Black History Month, reflecting on how Martin Luther King Jr. had the self-belief and courage to stand up for what he knew was right and, in doing so, helped to make a difference. Our reflections also led us to another important question: Does believing that you are right mean that you ARE right? We thought about how courage can sometimes mean standing firm in what we believe, but it can also mean listening to others, questioning our own thinking and being willing to change our minds. Another wonderful example of our children using our Christian values and Bible stories to think deeply about themselves, others and the world around them. ❤️
